Colleen provides schools, districts and organizations with tools for what they most want to explore, study or achieve for students in grades K-12. Whether you are working on assessment design, data interpretation, curriculum development, instructional methods, developing inclusive practices so that all students can grow, or all of the above, Colleen can tailor her partnership with you to best support your needs. She brings her unique depth and breadth of experience and knowledge to the work she collaboratively designs with each community she serves. Colleen provides both cheerleading for a community’s best practices and comprehensive problem solving know-how for almost any instructional quandary.

 
 

School Based Professional Development

Very few professional development opportunities are as powerful as seeing practice in action. Colleen will work directly with general and special educators, paraprofessionals, and administrators. Whether this is in person in your school building or virtually, Colleen brings a fresh perspective to your school’s areas of study. As you customize your work together you can consider professional development options from any of Colleen’s areas of expertise. You choose the delivery method that will work best for your community such as:

Keynotes

A dynamic speaker, renowned for her content-rich, yet always entertaining talks, Colleen is an experienced keynoter for any-sized event. She will work with you to tailor her talk to your audience and needs or you can request that she speaks on one of her most requested topics, such as:

Workshops and Institutes

If you need hour long, full day or multiple days of engaging, practical, professional or family-facing instruction or aren’t yet sure, Colleen will work with you to design the best combination of topics and experiences for your school, district or organization.  These interactive sessions can address a number of topics including:

  • Cultivating a mistake-welcoming learning community

  • Supporting reading development at home

  • Identifying and supporting students with learning disabilities

  • Serving students with dyslexia inside the classroom

  • Digital literacy

  • Refining IEP development and implementation

  • Reading and writing connections

  • Content area and literacy integration

  • Language and word work including: morphology, vocabulary development, grammar, phonemic awareness and phonics

  • Teach Black History All Year & Teach Latine/x Heritage All Year, interactive 3-day institutes co-lead with Dr. Sonja Cherry-Paul

 

Create your own package

This is ideal if you need more than one service or would like to talk through options. You can choose and combine from several offerings or make a specific request. Your package can include remote or in person options and take place over a short amount of time or several sessions. Possible options include:
